Feed - Do I need to do something about the FDA Lot tracking/bioterrorism requirements? (info. #2)
(Posted by: Lisa Sick 05/08/2006)

At AgVantage, we are updating our software to comply with the FDA Required Lot # Tracking Requirements (Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002) that must be in place June 9, 2006 for our customers that need it.

Are you one of those customers? Ask yourself the questions below and let Lisa Sick know the answers.  Lisas@agvantage.com.  Depending on your answers, You may need more information.

1.  Do you manufacture, process, pack, transport, distribute, receive, hold
or import food?
(Animal feed is considered “food.”) This includes all feed
mills, ingredient suppliers and grain handlers, and products with drugs in
them and Medicated Feeds.   YES or NO.

2.  Do you already have a process in place to trace-forward or backward a
lot of human or animal food?
The FDA plan is to be able to touch every link
in a manufacturing and distribution chain for a product within 48 hours.
YES or NO

3.  Do you have between 11 and 499 employees in your company?  YES or NO
and MORE or LESS than that.

Some questions you may be asking....

What is the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, or the FDA Required Lot # Tracking Requirements for?

Help identify and determine the source of grain, feed additives or ingredient products in and out of your business. Isolate possible mad cow disease for everyone’s safety.

What is AgVantage Software doing to Inventory, Accounts Payable, and Sales Software to follow the requirements?

In Version 6.5 of our software, we are tracking:

  • The name and contact information of the previous source you bought the item from and the subsequent recipient you are selling the product to,
  • a lot number of the product bought and sold throughout the system,
  • the quantity, description and date the load was received and sold
  • the name and contact information of the transporter that delivered the load to and from your facility.
If you need more information about the FDA Requirements, see the FAQ "Feed - What are the new FDA Requirements".
